Abstract:
The most important metallogenic epochs are Proterozoic period and Paleozoic period in Northwest China which lies in the hinterland of Eurasia, and the main metallogenic types are extrusive volcanic iron deposits, banded iron formation (BIF) iron deposits, magmatic copper-nickel sulphide deposits, volcanic hosted massive sulphide copper polymetallic deposits, sedimentary exhalative lead-zinc deposits and epithermal gold deposits. The ore genesis closely relates to the large igneous provinces of Carboniferous-Early Permian in central south of Central Asian Tectonic Region, and the relevant metallogenic feature is characterized by Late Paleozoic endogenic mineralization. Both of the Tarim and Ordos basins are important oil storage basins, with some metal deposits located in their surrounding areas. Taxkorgan ore concentrating area of west Kunlun and Qimantage ore concentrating area of east Kunlun have been found in Qinling-Qilian-Kunlun orogenic belt of northeast of Tethyan tectonic domain. According to the multivariate comprehensive analysis of mineralization characteristics, typical deposits and new prospecting discoveries, we evaluated the mineral resources potential and prospecting potential, pointed out the mineral prospects and exploration areas, and put forward proposals for further work of Northwest China.
