Abstract:
From 2010 to 2012, Center for Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology Survey, China Geological Survey launched a project “CO
2 geological storage potential and suitability evaluation and demonstration project in China”. In this project, basing on the geological condition in China, we have established evaluation index system and technical methods of CO
2 geological storage potential and suitability. The CO
2 geological storage potential and suitability of main basins have been evaluated;series of 1∶5 000 000 regional maps and atlas of main sedimentary basin in China have been compiled; potential targets area for CO
2 storage have been delineated; techniques and methods of site selection, exploration and evaluation on CO
2 geological storage in deep saline aquifers have been established.Furthermore, cooperating with Shenhua Group, we have successfully launched the first coal-based CO
2 geological storage demonstration project in deep saline aquifers in Ejin Horo County of Ordos City within Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.On these bases, the preliminary basic theories, techniques and methods of CO
2 geological storage potential and suitability evaluation in China have been established
