Abstract: Shanxi is rich in geothermal resources, but their distribution is uneven, and the degree of overall exploitation and utilization is low. There are many problems in exploitation and utilization of geothermal resources, such as the low research level of resource exploration, the common disperse mining, focusing on mining and ignoring recharge, paying little attention to innovation and so on. These problems are not conducive to sustainable utilization of geothermal resources. Based on current investigation and evaluation situation of geothermal resources in Shanxi, the authors summarized systematically distribution regularity, major types and characteristics of geothermal resources in Shanxi. And they also analyzed the present situation of exploitation and utilization of hydrothermal geothermal resources. According to types and occurrence conditions of geothermal resources, the authors made some suggestions for the exploitation and utilization model of geothermal resources, and put forward the conception of building a hot spring town in Shanxi Province.
